WHO WE ARE

Friends of NAS Ottumwa is a tax deductible 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. We are entirely volunteer run. No board members are compensated. All of your tax deductible donations are put towards preserving both the base headquarters as well as the history.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to create a new Naval Air & Space Museum at the former Ottumwa U.S. Naval Air Station located in southeast Iowa.  NAS Ottumwa was an active Primary Training Base for Naval Aviators during World War II.  The former military base is now operated by the City of Ottumwa, Iowa as the Ottumwa Municipal Airport.

The museum will be located in the original base headquarters building, known as the Administration Building, which is currently undergoing renovations.  A limited number of artifacts from this period are on display in the airport terminal building.
